Bondinho
Hi all, I'm off to vets at 1040 this morning so Spot Dots (my funky 'mohawked' appenzeller ) can hopefully have an injection, or course of antibiotics, to cure this mycoplasma business that I think she has - noticed yesterday that she has bubbles in one eye and was sneezing loads. I thought she just had a cold due to the sneezing she has been doing recently but looks like it is more serious than that Hoping she will be ok once antibiotics kick in - apparently my local vet keeps his own chooks so that is a good sign! First time I've ever had to go to a vet and I'm expecting it to be a hefty bill but such is life I guess. Will let you know how we get on. MedusA
Good luck at the vet. Hope she feels better soon. If it's just antibiotics she needs, it shouldn't cost too much.
lisa33
I hope she feels better. I haven't stopped nagging Andyman for chicken with a mohican since I saw your pictures.
Bondinho
She had 2 injections of baytril, and then I've been given a syringe full of it to give her 3 drops a day for the next 3 days. Cost £40 which was far less than I expected and I feel so much happier now she is being treated. She was a nightmare to get hold of though as she knew something wasn't right as soon as the box was put down in the garden! Will keep an eye on her for the next few days and hopefully she will be much better by the weekend - the vet was also very friendly and seemed to know exactly what to look for and what to give, might send their details to practical poultry to add to their list of "poultry friendly vets" in Bristol. P.S. Everyone needs at least 1 chicken with a mohican in their flock
