Hello - one of my hens - penelope, seems to be getting over her illness but could do with a bit of a boost and putting on some weight. I've got her a poultry drink with added vitamins which I'm letting them all have, but I'd like to give her in particular some weight-gain foods that will help her strengthen up and feel happier in the lively to and fro between 6 feisty chickens.

Any ideas?

live yogurt, sweetcorn, meal worms, cheese, tomatoes, soft fruit - well i think i'm just listing what my girls like

Pop some Avipro in her water - it'll pick her up no end.

try a bit of mashed potato and/or tuna or some mixed corn.

 

I wouldn't have thought yoghurt or tomatoes were fattening

Hi Pistachio, our ex batts were pretty scrawny and after Penny's accident she looked even skinnier. We adopted a regime of every suuplement imaginable in their morning warm porridge and in the afternoon pasta, rice & corn. Result - beautiful plump, rounded hens . So content & happy. Go for it
