The grammar thread seems to have disappeared - this is slightly off the grammar topic anyway - because it is about Words rather than grammar specifically...

 

For those interested in language and words and stuff, I have long subscribed (free) to Michael Quinion's World Wide Words email Newsletter.

 

I guess it is for a small and select group of language/grammar-geeks - but it keeps some of us amused - and as Readers Digest used to say, "It pays to increase your wordpower."

I'm signed up with 'Word of the Day', same kind of idea.

I used to get that Tessa! and on a footie email list I used to be part of - we used to have a standing challenge to see who could use the word of the day in the most natural unforced way! It whiled away the hours 8)
