Recommended Posts

i have got 2 chickens and try to add another 2.

1 has settled in fine and is very happy but the other they tryed to kill!

I have taken her away but do not know if i can put he back in as it is 3 against 1 now!

She will not fight back and runs at the stight of danger.

They are in a large run, as i can not let them free range in the garden in an Eglu.

Please can you help me and dottie she is not happy on her own but i do not know what to do anymore.

Is not easy to introduce new chickens that's for sure - I introduced 1 into flock of 4 -

Could you get the outsider to sleep and play alone/ free range with one of the old flock and just keep mixing them up, I found one of the 'old flock' on their own will not attack the newer hen - and just keep mixing them up - it can look violent at times when they all gang up on newest chook - and I found it took about 4 - 5 weeks for total harmony.

Were the two news chickens from the same flock ?

Good luck

Articles **here** about managing intros, which you might find helpful.

Can you section off a bit of the run and keep her in it? She will still be able to see, hear and smell the others, and vice versa.

You could encourage them to feed along the edge of the barrier and they may learn to tolerate her that way.
