TAJ
My poor bella looks such a mess - her first moult - bare bum, neck & breast - the run is covered in feathers, as is the food container, poo tray and the garden. With the cold weather today she is looking a bit sorry for herself to say the least. At least she is getting a rest from laying, which has to be a bonus for her. woffle
I know - our eldest girl is looking like someone's tried to pluck her and got bored halfway though. She's spent most of the time hiding in the eglu and keeping out of the cold.
TheCoop
Dolly seems to be over the worst of her moult now. A couple of weeks ago, I went out to let them out and thought she must be bald by looking at the amount of feathers she had pulled out!! She looked OK though and is seemingly back to normal, although we're still waiting for her tail feathers to come back! I've been giving them all Chicken Spice to give them a few more nutrients as well, so hopefully that will help.
chelsea
Ella's having a severe moult too Tracy. No feathers on her neck, bare bum, feathers everywhere. My maran is having a semi moult and the cochins are copying (but not actually having the moult!) I've put a hot water bottle in the cube today, I've also been giving them tuna every few days or so and extra poultry spice in warm porridge. Also popped some avipro in their water. Paola
Not the best time to have a moult Funny birds. I always add extra poultry spice also. Thankfully mine are not moulting at the mo, they will prob wait for the temp to drop even more
Alfred
Are my ex-batts bald because they have been moutling or because they have had their feathers pecked out? or both? also do hens oestrus cycles synchronise as cows and humans do? ie do they all stop laying at the same time? Jules.
Buzz & Poppy have been moulting for weeks now, & look really scraggy. I'm getting occasional eggs from them, but thin shelled or softies They are having all the suppliments that they need to help them get through their first moult, poor loves.
