theherd123
Hotel Chocolat can be found at www.hotelchocolat.co.uk The chocolate is to die for esp the French 71% They are completely ethical & believe whole heartedly in fair trade - you cant help but support them. Has anyone else come across them??

Lesley
I noticed one of their stores in St Albans as we left Sheila's yesterday - stuck in the traffic, I would have had plenty of time to get out and buy some

Guest
We talked about Hotel Chocolat a while back - my OH is a chocaholic and was a member of their chocolate-tasting club. We used to get a box 4-6 times a year (you can have them monthly if you wish) and you then score each chocolate and submit your scores on their website. At the end of the year they send out a box of the best chocolates over the past year. Since going vegan during Lent, he has stopped getting the boxes. But we found out that they sell vegan chocolate and they have also bought a cocoa plantation in the West Indies (or somewhere over there!) and operate on a Fair-Trade basis. So there's lots of good things about this company. I am a chocolate pleb! I didn't enjoy most of the chocolates because of the other flavours getting in the way of the chocolate. Also I prefer to eat more chocolate than is possible with these very rich types. They really are the 'one-or-two-after-dinner' sort of chocolates, not the 'pig-out-in-front-of-the-TV' type! Sheilaz
I loved that last paragraph, Ginette! Family size bar all to myself, not one or two fancy chocs!
Guest
Yep, that's me! Actually, I'm not a chocaholic - I prefer sweets! But I do notice that if I have chocolate every day over a very short period, I start to crave it. So it's best avoided I think! But if I'm going to indulge, I'll do it properly! theherd123
I must say im disappointed in you both Lesley & Sheila - letting the side down like that!! Here are the steps to success 1. See hotelchocolat shop 2. Stop car even if you are in middle of road with loads of traffic 3. Place warning lights on (as this is an emergency) 4. Raid chocolate shop 5. Return to car Ginette they also do HUGE slabs of chocolate and not with anything fancy added. So what are you waiting for?????!!!!!

theherd123
Ginette they also do HUGE slabs of chocolate and not with anything fancy added. OH didn't tell me about that! You can mention that in the divorce settlement!!! How does a 500g bar of milk & white fusion sound? Or perhaps you are more of a swiss milk & hazelnut girl?? 'Batons' - 25 mini sticks of chocolate - good to keep in the desk at work Mini slabs are great and what i buy most often, 15 varieties to choose from. They also have a set of chocolates called 'Is chocolate better than s**?' My OH & I differ on the answer to this!
Guest
we usually got some batons in our boxes. They were my favourite! OH has deliberated for a very long time on the 'better than' question! He has finally decided - and his answer really surprised me.
Cate in NZ
I went to the Lakeside, Thurrock shopping centre with daughter about 6 weeks ago, she was on a mission to buy clothes for a school trip. It goes to show how exhausted I was at the end of the expedition that I noticed the hotelchocolat shop there as we arrived, and said to daughter that my reward for enduring the trip would be a visit to that shop...... then I forgot This thread has just reminded me I must plan a visit there again this summer and sample some of their range.... you do such a good PR job Emma.... are you on commission That said I have a savoury tooth, not generally all that bothered by chocolate to be honest. I much prefer crisps and salted peanuts...... washed down by copious amounts of wine
