How long to chickens live?

How long do they lay?

In our house, about 6 months

 

I have heard that the hybrids Omlet sell will lay for around 3 years (my Pepper is proof of the pudding) and live for 4-5 years.

 

Some pure breeds can live up to 10 years allegedly - not much of a clue about their egg laying capability though.

 

Re living without them, I have no choice but to live without some of them - our latest had to be put to sleep last week - but, once a chicken keeper, always a chicken keeper I think

apparently, my two cochins should live between 8-10 years..

 

That means I have a lot of broody years ahead of me..oh no!
