Egluntyne
The silkie might find the rooster a bit overpowering.

Egluntyne
You could.........but am just wondering why you would want to have have a rooster if he can't be part of the flock? Why not get hens that are pretty much the same size and let them all mingle?

Ain't Nobody Here
Hi, welcome to the forum. Do you want lots of chicks? If not, you should just get hens as they will lay eggs without a rooster being present. They'll just be unfertilised eggs.
Egluntyne
but wont i have lots of chicks because they will always be mateing? Only if the hens sit on the eggs and hatch them. It sounds to me as if you don't really need a rooster. Most of us don't have one. Why not have a look at the Frequently Asked Questions section of the forum? It is bursting with useful info for the novice hen keeper.
