likeastar--x
i got some funny looks carrying a cardboard box that occasionally started to cluck. and when we stopped at a station she kept going mad and making her annoyed noise, very funny for me, im not sure that she liked it too much though i live very near london which, as you can imagine, is a no chicken zone. i have to trek to the country to the vets near where i got my chickens from in the first place. maybe an exotic vet would see them? sandyhas3chucks
ok, getting nearer. where in London, as ther are veterinary colleges there, there should be something. I have6 or 8 nearest that don't do chooks. then found one pretty close another 20 25 mins away and brilliant one 3/4 to an hour away. took mine today in a cat box. she was clucking and chatting the whole time too, got out at the vets had a wander around then happily went back in. Chatting all the tme

Egluntyne
Am so glad you took her to the vet. Now you know that there isn't a blockage you can relax. Why not give her some probiotic yoghurt to re-introduce friendly bacteria into her gut, and soft sloppy food for a day or to so that it slips down easily. A little Apple Cider Vinegar in her drinking water will also help It would be a good idea to make sure that there is no long grass, straw or hay lying around in case she eats it.. MadMitch
For future reference, If you can't get to the vets they do come out and do house calls. It may cost a bit more but probably less than a taxi to take you there. I do it quite often with my cats as they get so stressed in the car it makes them worse. likeastar--x
thanks sandy, the nearest one to me is probably romford, which is about 45 minutes to an hour from me, but still nearer than the one ive been going to i thought about calling one in but didnt know if they would travel that far? also i think the cause was probably from where new grass has recently been laid out in their coop and shes gotten a bit too much of it, its all turned to mush now with the rain though, so she should be okay touch wood. she didnt take a liking to the actimel, so i had to syringe it which she wasnt a big fan of, but had to be done. MadMitch
Hopefully its all going to be ok now. Its a horrible feeling when your chickens are poorly and you just don't know what else you can do for them. My nearest vets are 20 miles away so its always stressful taking them. We live in a large farming community who think I am bonkers as I consider my chickens pets and feed them treats etc.
