I have 3 cockerals in with my ladies, I know one day they might have to go but last week was awful

 

I noticed one of my cocks getting pecked quite often & by friday the others had started to peck the feathers off his bum, I asked OH to take him out when they are settled on Friday night (I cant reach) but he only finished work late, to late to help me assemble a temporary pen.

 

He promised first thing Saturday, shock horror, covered in blood

 

I burst into tears & asked him to do the deed, I feel so guilty.

 

I'm feeling so bad because I know it was selfish of me to take the easy way out, even though it would of been his fate sooner or later.

 

Chicken keeping is soo stressful at times

You are not an evil wimp, it's just a part of chicken keeping. Better sooner than later and at least he didn't have a stressful journey first. xxxx
