beach chick
if you give a bowl of mash one day and they dont finish it, is it ok to leave it out for them til they do? mine are still working their way through yesterday's with apparent enjoyment, and as they are totally turning their noses up at pellets at the mo, I guess they need it! Gamebird
Hi Beach chick, I feed my girlies mash and very often they havent finished it all by the next day. I just leave it until they do. It doesnt usually take long. It has never 'gone off' or smelt after 2 to 3 days so I wouldn't worry.
jomaxsmith
As long as it's dry it should be ok. I feed mash in a grub and just top it up day to day then empty it all out about once a week. Jo
beach chick
thanks gamebird, they seem to finish it in 2 days or so! going to add in live yog tonight, and bokashi (when my wiggly wigglers delivery arrives).
Gamebird
I also add Bokashi bran which works a treat for non-smelly, dry poos. However, like jomaxsmith, I do keep it dry. If you are going to add live yogurt then I would probably make sure they eat it within 24 hours. At this time of year I add poultry spice to their mash to give them a boost to help them through the cold nights. I have been expecting them to moult but so far they are hanging on to their duvets.
