lisamarie
Our male aylesbury is limoing on his right leg he has completely collapsed on it a few times. It feels hot around the hock. he is still eating and drinking. we have managed to get him still a couple of times over last 24 hours to massage it and manipulate it (gently!). we really cant think what else to do for him, maybe a splint? but how and on which part? lolly stick or just bandages? I have been on every site possible after googling "duck broken leg" but it all seems a bit vague. I am not sure if our vet does ducks and we have no money to pay vets bill until monday! We are so worried as this is the first problem we have had with any of our animals. PLEASE GIVE AS MUCH ADVICE AS YOU CAN TO HELP!!!
Lesley
A lollypop stick splint sounds like a good idea - not sure what you would use to bandage it with though......... I have read about it on the Practical Poultry forum - have you asked on there? Good Luck.
Egg Lou
sorry to hear this..the poor thing thing! Just a suggestion but what about "vetrap" or similar? its a cohesive bandage that sticks to itself and fairly good in damp conditions.. I use it with the horses and have also used on dogs rabbits and a tortoise! You can buy it from any vet or online or horse supply shops.. duckduckgoose1
i've heard of vetwrap. i think the best thing is just to take her/him to the vets. worked for me! they just gave her some ani biotics and anti swelling stuff and shes getting better.
