err_rachael
Maj appeared to have gone broody! There is some long grass towards the back of the eglu and she was nestled in it. I had worried for a while because I couldnt find her. I thought she might be laying so left her for half an hour but then came back and picked her up. 3 eggs!! I picked them up and took them away but I felt so awful because she returned to her little nest and looked around for them. My mum called me social services. Pft!! She went back and sat there even though there were no eggs. I watched her for a while and then realised she was laying another!! It was amazing. I didnt actually see her lay because um..I was looking at the wrong end. It seemed to come from her middle if that makes sense? I hope that doesnt make me perverted watching her lay! She didnt seem to mind. I could tell she was laying because she flicked her tail feathers a bit and made a very quiet 'oo' 'oo' sound. Laid it then walked off for me to pick up the egg! Laid down the aubiose today and it looks very spiffing. Just one question, how long do eggs usually keep for? We weren't sure how long the eggs she had been sitting on in the first place had been there. They were quite cold and dirty so we threw them out. I know it was probably a waste but we didnt want to eat rotton eggs. I get paranoid about getting food poisoning enough as it is!
quinlan
You can do the egg test. Put it in a glass of water... if it floats its gone off, if it sinks its still good to eat. Think thats the right way around, sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong!!!

chickenanne
If it helps, you're pretty unlikely to eat a rotten egg, they STINK! Don't worry, you'll soon be fed up with eggs anyway
