Mark Meagher
We are so pleased with the new additions to our family. Persephone and Parthenope arrived two weeks ago and have settled into our home life so well we simply can't imagine what we did before they came. However, our burning question is - when can we expect our first egg? We are terribly excited but trying to manage our (and our neighbours') expectations! What should we eggspect? Egluntyne
Wait for their faces to redden and their combs and wattles to develop. They will start to crouch - very obvious when you see it - and roughly a week later they will start laying. Things tend to take longer at this time of year as the daylight hours, which are a factor, are so much shorter.
Chicken Liz
I'm joining in this topic because I'm also waiting for our first egg and wondering how long it will take. It's the first question I get every day from people at work as well. We've had our girls for one month now and still nothing! They seem healthy and happy otherwise. I'll watch out for the things you mentioned, Egluntine, but is there anything I should be doing?
