Chances are they were dead when she found them (I hope so!), but is my garden going to be a wildlife wilderness? And if it was a great-crested newt, can I be prosecuted? I have seen them killing them and then trying to swallow them like an owl or something (discusting eh ) so i'm pretty sure they would have no problem polishing off a few frogs or newts! (sorry!) chickenanne Posted December 1, 2008 Share Posted December 1, 2008 Re the newt: No, I don't think you could be prosecuted, as it's illeagal to disturb them / harm them, it could be arguable: however, it's not likely to happen! Re the chickens: h'mm, they will go for anything really, including frogs, newts, etc. Although to be fair they're unlikely to get many live newts, nor are they likely to go into the pond to catch them.
