Advice please! Hen laid normal egg put covered in putty!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I would be really grateful for your advice. Having noticed a ruffled feathered hen, I sought advice from the Eglu site and decided that she was egg bound. As I was preparing to treat her, she laid an egg which appeared normal, however, it is thickly coated in what appears to be putty or scone mixture.

I am really worried about her as the information regarding egg binding said that after laying the egg, she would perk up, but she hasn't, and looks really miserable, whilst not eating. Poor Henrietta!!

Any advice would be really appreciated as an internet search has not produed anything.

Thankyou in anticipation.

Thanks, Ain't "Ooops, word censored!"ody Here,

I am so relieved that my girlie is OK. "Ooops, word censored!"ody tells you how attached you get to them do they! I have just noticed that you give your hens the same nomenclature as I do, 'the girls'! So appropriate, unfortunately, my friends and family have adopted the Boots advert ' here come the girls' theme tune and constantly hum it to me, so annoying!!

Don't worry SueW, my friends and family started by mocking my "girls", and humming that tune to me too but they have all now fallen under their spell. It doesn't take long. Some of the biggest offenders are now the people who always ask me as soon as they meet me "How are the girls?, they were so sweet when I met them". "Ooops, word censored!"ody is safe from falling once they've realised they all have little characters
