Grumpy girls!

Recommended Posts

Like many others, my little monsters waited till the temperature dropped below zero and then decided to moult and they are in assorted states of motheaten, but they are so grumpy!. Is this usual and do they go back to being themselves again, or have my little girls been taken by aliens and substituted by little horrors  ?

They are fine with me and no blood has yet been shed, but they sometimes have a real go at each other. Even those that used to share are now claiming the pellets or porridge for themselves and it's heaven help the chook that goes near the greens if Daisy sees them!

Please reassure me that this is only temporary and that my usual spoiled demanding little darling madams will be restored soon (with feathers!) :D

 My guess would be that as they're moulting, they're feeling chilly and need more calories to keep warm - therefore they're feeling particularly greedy and fighting over food. I know I can be bad tempered when I'm very hungry :D

Hormonal chickens to go with my PMT (and I'm a right moo when I'm hungry too!) ? The cats will be applying for re-housing!

Seriously though, I'm glad to hear they'll soon get over it and go back to being themselves :D . Four of them are still laying most days, Joy has stopped recently and Dandelion hasn't laid an egg for 4-5 months now, but they are certainly eating well, so obviously nothing to be too concerned about.

Thank you for such quick and reassuring replies :D
