sti chick
Hello i was just wondering if you date your eggs?? Do you write on them in pencil? would that be ok? sorry if i appear to be a bit thick, i am just completely new to this and the fun starts this sat when we get our 12 hens. when they drop the first egg i will let you all know. lin
Chickvic
I put the date on with pencil and the weight (and the name of the chicken who laid it ) but if you're getting 12 girls you may not be able to tell the difference! I keep a spreadsheet and graph of who laid what, when and how heavy. My name is Chickvic and I am an egg anorak!

Chickvic
You can get coloured leg rings for them. I can't remember where from though perhaps someone else can remember.

Hen Watch
Pencil date on mine so if I give them away to friends they know to use them within 28 days of date of lay. Realistically they get eaten within a week. But now I have an Egg Skelter that "Freddie" on this forum sells, they all roll round in order and I can always use oldest first. Redwing
I write on mine in pencil. There is no way I would be encouraged to do a spreadsheet out of work!
