Thinking of getting a couple of chickens - help/advice pleas

Recommended Posts

Bit of an update from me!

Husband has said no to a walk-in run BUT YES to a CUBE!!! Hee hee hee. So I have gone from a eglu and small run to a cube and 2metre run in a day.

We have just been looking at linkabord as would like this round the edge of the cube.

He said I can ring tomorrow to book the slot for delivery.

Now I am over-excited!

When I owned an Eglu I located it on the lawn to start off with and secured the run skirt with ordinary plastic tent pegs. This gave a very secure structure and due to the Omlet design, a very fox resistant run. :)

Just seen your latest post mazzyc as I'm writing this, well done - I'm sure you will not be disappointed :!:

Congratulations, mazzyc!

Just one more thing. What colour cube are you ordering? It's so exciting, waiting for your first Omlet delivery. I can still remember the anticipation.

I am seriously thinking of trading in my (green eglu) and (purple eglu) for a (cube purple) as that would mean space for more hens and (hopefully) less cleaning!:dance::dance:

Gone for purple - husband doesnt know that yet though. Initially i said he could choose but then i just ordered it!

I chose 2 ginger ones and one black one - I think three is enough considering I am a total novice and thats interesting about introducing more being difficult so think I will just stick with my three little ladies!

Everyone is so nice on here and helpful and invites to visit are so kind.

I have got in my head about most things like what to border it with, what bedding to use - just now need to see what is best to anchor the run skirt down with (the yellow tent pegs look good) and what i should cover it with to protect from the rain.

Going to go and measure inthe garden now to prepare husband as think he doesnt realise how big it is - hee hee hee!
