MitchB
Well we have room for three girls that's if any hatch. Also have a WIR at the planning stage so far with quote from local chap on way. The incubator on loan is an auto one so just need to candle at intervals to check progress. Colleagues at work have had mixed results with their attempts ie 6 hatched only 1 hen, 6 hatched 4 hens 2male but then 2 hens died so left with 2 & 2 the males now crowing apparently. Others have reared meat birds so weren't bothered re sex of them. Their attempts were with a manual incubator and a broody hen plus different breeds from these. Apparently according to my Mum both sets of my grandparents used to hatch chicks all the time when my parents were youngsters. I can only try and see what happens. I saw another thread re hatching where they had set 18 and 6 hatched 5 girls and 1 boy. Will keep updating with photos etc at the hatching point and beyond. Griffin
That was me Mine are two weeks old on Sunday. I'm having second thoughts about one of them and she might be a he. Will wait and see. No doubts over the others though, definitely four girls. They're amazing to watch, I could sit with them all day. I love watching the way they're developing on a daily basis. Each day I wake up to find they've grown more feathers! I'm enjoying trying to guess which breeds they consist of because they're from a mixed flock. I've got six Light Sussex and five mixed LF eggs in the incubator due to hatch a week on Monday. So excited about those
