BethBubbles
Hi all I was wondering if anyone has any advice on a problem with one of our chicks. Mo seems to be having problems going to the toilet. Each time he/she makes straining noises as though constipated and ruffles his/her feathers. His/her bottom area looks redder than the others and slightly enflamed and he/she is pecking at it a lot. Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Do you think we should separate Mo? I tried to remove her for about an hour earlier to see if I could watch what he/she was doing but he/she seemed so upset I returned him/her to the enclosure. I will try and take a photo later and post it so you can all see the problem. We don't want to put him/her through the stress of going to the vets unless it's necessary. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!!! PS Sorry for all the he/ she business. We're hoping for as many girls as possible and I don't want to jinks it. In fact, I may start a vote later! BethBubbles
I've tried to take a photo of her bottom to see if anyone has an idea what the problem could be. Sorry, it's a bit blurry. Any advice would be much appreciated. I've also asked the breeder we got the chicks from but he hasn't got back to me as yet.
BethBubbles
Just heard back from the breeder and he thinks it's ok and is probably just a bit constipated. I'm not so sure! If anyone has seen anything similar to this I would really appreciate advice. We're chicken owner newbees!
Egluntyne
Maybe she has an obstruction. Is he managing to pass anything at all?
BethBubbles
That sounds possible. He is managing to go but seems in pain when doing it. Her poos look like the others though. Hopefully it will pass in more ways than one!
