The good lifers
I think the grass MIGHT be growing back! B and Q have their own version of grass seed, very cheap about 3 quid, but does seem to work ok, if you have the odd bare patch!! anyone got a good brand of hard wearing grass? Also want to get some plants that they won't eat, any suggestions? They don't seem to like sage, but they have happily eaten all my primroses! Did anyone see the wildlife garden thing with Nick Knowles and the chickens- lovely garden!!inspired! stoice
I'm pretty sure my girls don't touch my woodier plants. I've got lavendar, rosemary, thyme and lemon thyme near their run. All left alone so far... plus their aroma is supposed to ward off flies in summer. (Much better than the foul stench of death from my redtop fly trap last summer - my garden is way too small to get away from it!) I'd love my lawn back. It's been a swamp all winter. Trampled on daily to get to the girls and now pee'd on by our dog and leaving dead yellow patches. ho-hum. I may stab at the lawn this weekend with a garden fork and fill the holes with sand to aid drainage.
Carol U
Mine leave all of the above alone and also, for some reason, penstemmons and roses. Maybe they don't taste good. They actually leave any sort of woody shrub, but love to peck about underneath them, which gets rid of the weeds.
The good lifers
Oh yes! That's good advice, I have got lavendar, rosemary and yes, they haven't touched it, so I'll think I'll get some more of them and make a lovely little den for them!I'll go and stick a fork in my grass too, good idea , sun's out here!Off to the garden centre!!
