softie egg i think

Recommended Posts

I was going to do a seperate post but saw this one - today I found a soft egg in the run when I opened up the girls.

Last night it as dark so I didn't see it but there was one egg in the box - sam's normal shape and colour. I don't think it is Dipper laid the softie as she is still too young but could

Sam have laid a Softie the a normal egg.

Sorry for jumping in on this post.

another softie today, squashed up in the nest box with 2 normal eggs. Think it is Daisy. She seemed a bit off a couple of days ago and then perked up and then yesterday. She is eating ok has a full crop at bedtime and it is always empty in the moring. Today she was fine again .I noticed that my exbatts are now mouting? I got them on the 22nd november last year and they had only just grown back more less most feathers. They are let out of the kennel at 8 in the morning but as it has a window it must get light in there earlier as there was a whole row and poo (normal tyoe) just behind the door...... They were free ranged in the garden this morning and did not lay until around midday. I was hoping to set their eglu up outside this weekend but i will leave it a couple of weeks just in case Daisy is brewing anything.

Thank you for this posting, it is as I suspected.

I looked here to see if others had rthe same going on :!:

Last night my Moe laid a softee having laid a beautiful normal, thick shelled egg in the morning.

This is NOT like her. she's a one aday gal with days off or weeks if as has been poorly! :)

My one that OFTEN does batches of 2 a days has laid 2 thick membany ones 2 days apart.

The 1st one had a little lash attached which when opened revealed a soft shell, the thick orangy membrane turned out to be several shells (she hadn't laid in a few days.)

As they were all basking in the sunshine & free ranging all day AND had live maggots I guessed it might be a combination. :)
