Single hen

Hey I have had a batch of chickens given too me last year and little did i no i had 2 cockerals among them and i already have a bantam game cockeral. Should i get rid of them both to the local friend that has lots of land and may chickens, but they seem to get along but I dunt like the two sussex cockerals jumpuing on the battery hens and pulling their combs.

 

Any advice

...there is a good chance the cockerels will fight..and compete for the Hens...plus there is the noise factor to consider if you have near neighbours, plus fertilised eggs..

How long have you had the battery hens? The advice is that it isn't a good idea to have them with cockerels for at least a month as the cockerels treading them can break their bones until they have recovered.

 

Also, you should have a fair number of hens to cockerels so that they aren't worn out by the attention. At least 8 per cockerel is what I have been given to understand.

 

You might want to base your decision on the numbers.
