tiggerlady
May I ask which course you are doing Scrambled? My DD wants to do a health and social course but isnt sure which one ..NVQ, Btec etc. She already has 18 months experience in a nursery, but doesnt want the course to limit her options afterwards to only working with children.I would be grateful for any comment please. The college wont advise her which one to take as shes over 20! tiggerlady
Thanks for that Scrambled..is there much of a difference between the btec and a nvq workload,or is it just done in a different/same way? Sorry to be a pest..thanks
MedusA
My DD is an Assistant Psychologist working in Dementia and also does the occasional agency shift working as a HCA on Dementia wards. It can be a challenge, but she says she gets real satisfaction if she feels she has managed to brighten just one of the patients' days just a little, by taking the time to sit and talk to them, not at them. It can be immensely rewarding to make that little bit of difference. Good luck with the placement, Laura.
ClaireG
Im glad your enjoying it Laura. I used to work as a home carer and although some of the things were very sad etc i used to love hearing some of the old folks stories. Most of the people i visited were lovely and really grateful to. Im also an NNEB, so have worked with the full age range from 0 - 100+
