eggalp
just got back from the vets with a hen with a sore eye. For a few days she has had it shut and i have tried to bathe it with a cold tea bag, but yesterday it looked worse and a bit cloudy so off we went to the vets tonight. Its the first time ive taken a hen to the vet and i dont think the vet had seen many hens. She was unsure what could be causing it so has given us a tube of eye cream called Fucithalmic for cats, dogs and rabbits. Has anyone ever been given anything to treat a sore eye which has cured it? And has anyone got any tips in getting eye cream into a hens eye??
Egluntyne
It can be a two man job. Wrap her in a towel so that she cant flap about, and if one holds her firmly, the other should be able to hold her head and get the cream into her eye. I have managed with drops, but never been given cream.
