lisaroo2
Hi All I want to grow a wildlife friendly hedge around the girls run to 'pretty' it up abit. Trouble is I dont know what to plant that the bees will like and the girls wont like to eat. I was thinking of lavender? Sorry if there's already a post on this topic. C&T
Mine don't eat my lavender... I'ld suggest getting one or 2 plants and test them before buying loads...
Redwing
My grandad has a laurel bush in his chicken run which has only had a few bites taken out of it. Laurel makes a lovely hedge
stoice
My girls seem to leave alone the more woody plants so lavender as you suggest should be ok. Also maybe Rosemary? Or yew? or Box? Maybe even Holly?
AJuff
Lavender and Rosemary my girls leave alone. One chook loves the lavender and wallows in it nest building. I bought 100 lavender seeds from ebay for £3 and planted up loads. They have been in the greehouse over the winter and I'll plant them in the hen run when they are a little more woody!!
