quickcluck
Does anyone else use these? I've just seen a pic on another post and they look very interesting..... Do they soak up poo? Smell? Does it compost? Ta K
abwsco
Mine aren't locked in the run for great lengths of time but the shavings we've got down have been there for at least 4 months. Can't remember when I first started using them but I think it was November. The poo just seems to disappear into them although I pick up any noticable clumps and they have broken down a bit but we've not composted any yet. No smells and also there is no dust. HTH I have used Bedmax for my ponies. They are much much larger shavings than the normal woodchips. They do compost but it takes longer because they are larger chunks. I think that the softer wood chips soak up better. (for ponies anyway) The Bedmax do smell nice though
Guest
HI A lot of people realise how good the horse bedding is ..a lot of it is dust extracted too(if u use shavings fresh from a saw mill they can be very fine /dusty /less absorbent. But u will find with any of the prepacked horse bedding it rots down a lot faster than ie straw etc and less weeds too if u r composting it. The beddings are brill now. Even the dust extracted wood shavings are great too good luck trail and error indie
thewhitehouse
I think my stuff is bedmax - will check tomorrow. Its Ok but I only use as filler underneath the straw in the nest box.
