Does anyone else use these? I've just seen a pic on another post and they look very interesting.....

 

Do they soak up poo? Smell? Does it compost?

Mine aren't locked in the run for great lengths of time but the shavings we've got down have been there for at least 4 months. Can't remember when I first started using them but I think it was November. The poo just seems to disappear into them although I pick up any noticable clumps and they have broken down a bit but we've not composted any yet. No smells and also there is no dust. HTH

I have used Bedmax for my ponies. They are much much larger shavings than the normal woodchips. They do compost but it takes longer because they are larger chunks. I think that the softer wood chips soak up better. (for ponies anyway) The Bedmax do smell nice though

A lot of people realise how good the horse bedding is ..a lot of it is dust extracted too(if u use shavings fresh from a saw mill they can be very fine /dusty /less absorbent.

But u will find with any of the prepacked horse bedding it rots down a lot faster than ie straw etc and less weeds too if u r composting it. The beddings are brill now.

Even the dust extracted wood shavings are great too

I think my stuff is bedmax - will check tomorrow. Its Ok but I only use as filler underneath the straw in the nest box.
