sti chick
please could you tell me if you have to bake egg shells first before you can give it back to the chickens??? Can they have it just washed and crushed up?? thanks lin
..lay a little egg for me
Yes, it is recommended to bake them first. Then the hens don't get a taste for egg. Also it is quite tricky to crush them without baking them because the membrane that lines the shell tends to keep it all stuck together! Hen Watch
By the way....... don't bake egg shells on days when you have visitors. They absolutely stink when baked. Cannot describe it but you will know exactly what I mean soon.

Hen Watch
2 mins in microwave. Mine don't smell at all. That's a good tip, not thought of microwave. I do mine in the oven and the stench is terrible even if you only do them for 4/5 mins...... it's awful.
