Woodcat
hey One of my girls Loly has what can only be described as bumps on the back of her legs a little way up that do appear to be growing and yesturday when she was angry at one of the others instead of a peck like normal she tried to do a jump with her feet up like cockrels do. She messed it up and fell over but it was very odd to look at. I had a look at the other hens and they have little marks there but lollies are getting quite big. Can hens grow spurs? she is not an exbate or anything but she does have some "Manly" features including and extremly impressive tail and a walk that looks like a chav its much closer to a strut than a walk. She is also currently trying to work her way up the pecking order in that she keeps having ago at the chickens above her. Just to clarify she is deffinatly female (i've had eggs from her) at the moment... Thanks in advance Beth

Woodcat
yeah i wouldnt have worried except for the jumping and the fact that they are getting bigger and in comparison to the other hens they are considerably bigger already

Lydia
Ex-bat Hatpin has impressive spurs too. She also has a larger comb and wattles and is what I think has been described as she/he Occasionally she'll try and mount one of the others lower down the pecking order but, to be honest it's bravado and no damage has ever been done. Ablett (who has all female bits) also does it sometimes.
