joybelle
When my WIR is finished I want to get a couple of these. I know you can get the pure breeds but wonder if there are hybrids that lay these as I dont want to get eggs just in the summer. thanks joy
tom123
You can buy hybrids that lay BUT it is only a 70-80% chance they will lay these, the others will lay pastel shades. Here are all the breeds that lay hybrids & pure breeds... Araucana PURE BREED - Defiantly Cream Legbar PURE BREED - Defiantly Skyline/Columbine/legbar HYBRID - 75% lay others will lay To be honest I would choose 2-3 Cream legbars for the then get maybe a few white star hybrids for LOTS of all year round ???? Good Luck! Tom
joybelle
thanks for that tom looks like it will have to be cream legbars then. I had thought about getting a white star or two but I`ve been told they can be a bit noisy and my other hens are very quiet. dont want to upset the neighbors joy
mostin
My Coton Blues from Glencroft poultry are hybrids and both lay green eggs. They have lovely temperements too This is a picture of Leala, she's such a floozy . Here are the 1st 2 eggs she layed, they are even greener now . mostin
She does yes , A reminder of her Araucana heritage. I love my punk rocker chickens. I got my first taste of the "generation gap" on Sunday when showing my little niece Leala and I said "look at her little punk rocker hair-do" and my niece said "What's a punk rocker?" brambles
I have a skyline hybrid like the ones on tom's 3rd photo. Waiting for her to start laying - her comb's growing. I'll let you know what colour!
