Single hen

Ok I am in a real quandry (sp) I have a dyson motorhead and its too heavy to carry up my steep terraced stairs. So I was thinking of selling it as its only a year old and buying something lighter, was looking at the electrolux ergoeasy hepa bagless cleaner and then last night was looking at lakelands garden products (as recommended on here) and found that they sell roombas. I know there have been a lot of postings on here about them so wondered if it is something I should be considering. I have two house bunnies so their hair and occasional poop is what gets hoovered up.

What do you recommend?

I love my Roomba, & it works well with my cat & dogs hair , but I would only really give it a full rcommendation if you have hard floors.

 

Sebo, sold at John Lewis, do a super light cylinder vacum, which is designed for pet hair, & is brilliant.Sper powerful, very very quiet & a dream to use.

Also all the filters can be replaced which is great if you have allergy sufferes in the house.

Even though we have neither a cat or a dog, we bought a Miele Cat and Dog cylinder vacuum earlier this year and it's wonderful! I have an incontinent vintage feather eiderdown on our bed which loses feathers like a moulting hen and it copes wonderfully with all of these plus all the long hairs which fall from my head! It's expensive but we've tried so many other vacuums and been disappointed. This one definitely gets my vote.

lol well you have now mentioned the two other cleaners recommended at john lewis when I was looking last week. So what is best out of all of them? I have carpets and hard floors.

I have carpets and hard floors too and the Miele copes very well with both, even on the low setting which I use all the time. It even copes wonderfully well with the lino in the conservatory which my old vacuum could never get the bits off. It is a bagged vacuum though so if you don't want to have to buy bags, maybe it's one to avoid. However, Miele do have an online store where you can buy bags for this machine. I've gone from a bagless vacuum back to a bagged one as emptying my Vax model was a disgusting process! Give me bags any day!!

If the cost of the miele bags puts you off, you can buy generic bags which are half the price of the miele brand bags. I've just bought 40 of them from the internet and if you like I can let you know how they perform?
