jennybrom
Hiya, I may be being impatient but I'm wondering if the eggs gradually get bigger as the chooks get older/more used to laying. They're both getting in the swing of it now but the eggs are still on the small side (apart from Galdys's double yolker the other day!). I'm also a bit paranoid that they're eating so much of the sand from the dustbath that there's no room for proper food for them to make eggs from! ta, jen
Aggienator
I think they do get bigger over time. So far we have had 8 eggs from Gertie, starting at 25g and now up to a steady 50 . From reading though I undersatnd that they do continue to get bigger as the hen gets older.
Purplemaniacs
They do get bigger Ebony started off laying 40g eggs now her average is 70g. I think it does depend on the breed, Ebony always lays our biggest eggs then Ivory and then Latte. "Home grown" eggs are lovely whatever the size Chrissie
