Aggienator
This afternoon we were out in the sun, there was lots of chatter and then Flo settled down for about 3-4 minutes. I wondered if she was trying to lay her first eg There was no fluttering about as when they dust bath, she just lay there doing this:
Chickvic
She's sunbathing. They do look slightly odd when they lay over and stick a wing out don't they
Aggienator
Thanks, She loked so comical: all fluffed up with one leg sticking out! She would be the one to sunbathe: Gertie is always much too busy
mostin
Yep, that's the classic sunbathing pose . One wing and one leg extended, eyes closed, and look as if you're melting . My girls adore it when it gets sunny and warm.
HENthusiastic
They do behave very differently when the suns out. My lot are far busier when its duller. In the sunshine, they are far more likely to be sunbathing, or just sitting about enjoying the rays.
Griffin
I have to admit that I saw one of mine doing this today for the first time and for a split second I thought she was dead and then I realised what she was doing In my defence I've kept chickens since last August and we haven't had many sunny days since then It was Primrose and she looked so blissfully happy. I hope she gets a lot more sunny days this year!
Groovychook
All of my girls were catching rays yesterday!! All flopped over with eyes shut... I love seeing them so relaxed!
