I moved the chooks off the back garden to keep OH and DS happy. I gained an extra veggie bed so I was pleased too. I gave my chooks the walk in run plus the whole side of the garden with the apple trees and lots of grass.

In a matter of weeks they have eaten or scratched up all the grass and have had a wild time in and around the houses nearby!

Flora insists on laying in the lavendar nr the front door scaring the postman, she also likes wandering the estate for lush grass. Unfortunately she is not alone! My neighbours across the road came to my house at 6.40am last week to tell me one of my chickens had escaped and was being chased down the road by a cat. On Sunday I arrived home to find the music theory teacher on my doorstep telling me one of the chooks was sat in the main (very busy) road to the side of my house! Flora had cleared the 7ft high fence into the woodland strip adjacent to the house and had flown down 30ft to the road. :anxious: And so it goes on . . .

Tonight when they are back in the cube I am closing off access to the side garden and they will be limited to the walk in run unless I am at home. I am putting the two bumper bits back on the two bottom feather eaters. Tomorrow I will take off one of the green taurpaulins and replace it with netting to stop them flying out but they will gain more light/sunshine. Problem solved???? I wonder . . .
