tania
What should a crop look like in the morning? My girl's crops seem to be very slightly full in the morning, their crops aren't totally invisible. They are much smaller than when they go to bed but I don't know how deflated they should be. The chickens are all fine and normal but having read about impacted crops I am worried and think I'm convincing myself that this is what they have. Any advice would be much appreciated. The Dogmother
So long as they are less full in the morning then that is OK tania. A little bit left in there just means that they were greedy the day before and haven't digested it all over night. emmat, a crop is the first stage in the chicken's digestive process; see the FAQ section, which has loads of information on this.
