Pink Ladies
Ruby had a bad start this time last year and as a result of a bleeding vent we sprayed her with purple spray which did the trick. After the other chickens left her in peace she didn't like her messed up knickers where the feathers had been stuck together by the spray. She then pulled them all out giving herself brazilian! They never seemed to grow back and now has very rough red skin in this area. Now she sems to be going even further and widening the bald area. Will they ever grow back and is there anything we can do to help it. The skin looks horrible and very hard now. She has even started doing her underneath! s
Egluntyne
I'd put some tea tree and lavender cream on the sore shin, and a bumper bit on Ruby, to prevent her from self harming. Have you checked that she hasn't got any parasites which are irritating her?
abwsco
One lady who rescues a lot of very poorly exbatts uses an organic seaweed supplement and the results she has with re-feathering are absolutley amazing. I've just seen the latest pics on the Practical Poultry forum. Might be worth a try.
Pink Ladies
Have checked for parasites and can't see anything, also sprayed her with Johnsons spray , just in case. Babs whom she lives with has lovely fluffy knickers!

quickcluck
Can you remember what the seaweed stuff was?
Lizzie
Hi I highly recommend tea tree lotion applid daily to featherless areas. One of our ex batts had no feathers there for months and months; the vet said feathers would never grow back, but she has defied the odds and now looks even more beautiful.
