Florence
Penny my Speckledy has been a bit odd today, firstly this morning when she got up she didn't go straight to the feeder just the water and she is now free ranging but is a bit out of sorts and has just either laid a shelless egg in the shed or a bright yellow dropping. Yesterday we let our two new pekins out for the first time to free range with the others ,there were a few run ins but nothing too serious and I was quite pleased with the result, they are still roosting in their own houses. This morning though Penny was very agitated in the run and marching up and down the edge looking at the pekins run which is next door it hers. I will worm again tomorrow as a precaution but if she won't eat how do I get it into her also could it just be that she is upset by the arrival of the pekins?I would add that she is top chicken. Any suggestions welcome
alih
If she is wormed then I would keep an eye for a couple of days and see whether she settles down on her own. If she has a funny tummy then probiotic yoghurt with a bit of bokashi bran should help. Hope she perks up
Florence
Thanks, had not thought of the bokashi, will give it a try.She seems to have perked up a bit but her eggs are a little thin shelled. She just seems a bit put out by the situation, you know unsettled .On the whole though they don't seem to be getting on too badly...perhaps it is the lull before the storm. Egluntyne
Stress can cause them to become a bit squittery. Bokashi should help settle things.
