My bread machine has broken

Recommended Posts

:( I have a 7month old Panasonic SD 254. I turned it on today in the hope of making a loaf, and the display reads REST POWER ALERT, which I think means reset power alert. I looked through the instructions, and it said that this means that we have had a power cut for over 10 minutes, which we haven't as every appliance would be showing blinky lights. Nowhere does it say how you reset the power alert :( Has anybody experienced this, and what did you do about it, be grateful for any help before I go back to Argos and change it.

Thanks

Tessa

I broke the pan on my bread machine when I dropped it. It made me try making the bread without the machine - wouldn't waste my money on another machine now as its SOOO much nicer made by "hand". That is whizzed up in the food processer - left to stand - knocked back - left to stand and then baked. It must take me at least 10 mins more than throwing it all in the breadmaker did.

If you leave it off for a while will it go back on ok - sometimes these things get muddled up!! - bit like me- and to reset need switched off - worth a try before you take it back under guarantee.

I would take it back and get another, if you are within the guarantee period. It sounds as if the element has blown. When my Panasonic breadmaker stopped baking the bread, I went on the web to see where I could buy an element and how much it would cost (as my breadmaker is out of guarantee). The elements are under £20 but I have no idea where I would find someone able to fit the new element (I gather it is not a job for an amateur). I think that a piece of kit that costs eighty quid should last a lot longer than two years (as mine did, almost to the day) so for the time being, rather than buy a new breadmaker, I am using it to make the dough and then I take it out and put it in a conventional bread tin and finish it off in the traditional way.

try phoning the manufacturer's helpline, if they're anything like morphy richard, if they can't help they'll collect the machine and drop a new one off

I'd agree with Tessa - maybe that it's just a little muddled. Mine did that once and after that it was okay. If it's not okay, then def take it back whilst it's still under guarantee. xx
