poorly hen, should I bring her inside?

Recommended Posts

I have a poorly hen (Blossom) with a temperature and conjunctivitus. I took her to the vets yesterday and he injected her with antibiotics and an antiinflamotory and drops for her eyes. Shes eating and drinking fine but still a bit quiet.

I have just closed the girls (6 of them) in for the night but noticed that Blossom was by herself in the nesting area. I hate to think of her been alone, should I bring her inside or leave her. Am I been to 'human' in my thinking.?

As long as she doesn't look ill or stops eating / drinking I'd leave her with the others. It can be hard to re-introduce hens that have been away from the group. Obviously if the girls are picking on her then do remove her, I'm sure she'll be just fine otherwise.

I cant believe how many eye problems on here lately! (we have eye problem also). I agree with the post above, I would probably leave her with the others in an enviroment she is comfortable in and around her chickeny friends. Just keep an eye on her as I am sure you will. :D
