Whilst their Mayo both have FREE RANGE eggs in neither of them do in their Salad Cream! Surely if it is right for one it is right for both?

Waitrose are now free range on all their own brands BUT you still need to check labels as some stock is older. They tell me that all products will be clearly marked 'free range egg'

Make your own - far nicer

 

4ozs butter / low fat alternative

3 teaspoons mustard powder / mustard

1/2 a cup of white vinegar

1 tin of condensed milk ( I used the light version)

salt & pepper.

 

Melt butter & stir in rest of ingredients off the heat.

 

I dare you to leave this alone when you make it. We have had it on ham baguettes, with salad, with sausages, it makes a mean potato salad. It's yummy!

It tastes of vinegar and margarine to me.

It won't contain free range egg unless it states it on the label sadly. I'd never heard of it

 

Co op and M&S do free range salad cream. Mary Berry and Pizza express do lovely free range dressings (house and caesar) and of course ANY organic dressings are free range

Oh dear - I feel so guilty now - I thought I checked EVERYTHING when I shop but it appears my 'lovely' Heinz Salad cream won't be replaced.
