robbie2390 Posted April 15, 2009 Share Posted April 15, 2009 Hi All, Its me again, i have a huge concrete flower container and i mean huge takes two men to lift empty, it is now in the run under cover to keep it dry and i intend to use it as a dust bath, so my question is what is the best medium to use read so many conflicting reports, sand, earth, sawdust, peat which is it to be? Although I hadn't heard of sawdust before and can't see what benefit it would have, although that's not to say they wouldn't enjoy it. The idea of the bath is to move particles of earth/sand under the wings to dislodge mites and fleas. I'll be using play sand with some Diatom Earth. Any dry sandy/earthy material is good. Previously they were digging holes in the borders to use real mud so I guess compost is the next best thing and they've stopped digging!
