No cheating!

Help! - I need some!

We are running a caravan rally next weekend & are looking for some sort of quiz. Easy? ...no it's not! Main reason being we have some members who look up all the answers on the inernet via their phones or 3 dongle.

They are so determined to win every time - it's making it a waste of time doing a quiz & is preventing other members from taking part.

What can we do where this particular family of members can't cheat by looking it all up on Google? A quiz or competition of some sort that we can print out onto their welcome letter sheets. We don't really want a picture board, as they are forever over at your caravan & we do want a bit of peace ourselves!

Hope you clever lot can come up with some entertainment for them, as we are at a loss this time.

Thanks.

How about a treasure hunt of some sorts?

When I was a child I grew up in the nightclub my parents owned, & we used to have treasure hunts.

Someone (My dad & me usually) would go around looking for local clues & use natural things to point the competitors on to the next direction, like a certain branch next to a particular gate. Then it was walk 200 yards, turn left & look for the footpath sign, under which they was another clue.

I am sure you get the idea.

You could of course just pinch all their electrical hardware.

Don't see the point of something fun being spoilt by looking it up myself

At family camp last year, one of our Cub leaders did a great "quiz" which consisted of a long passage which was about A4 size (don't know if she made it up herself or found it on the net - probably the former actually knowing her  !!) which contained loads (and I mean loads - over 100  !) film names, all linked into sensible sentences. There were a lot of old classic titles which most of the youngsters didn't know, and equally some new ones which the parents had no idea about too!!

Make it fair by having a gadget basket in the middle & everyone has to put their "cheat machines" in for the duration - anyone who doesn't has to forfeit the game. It's supposed to be fun not a huge competition, so everyone should start on a level peg.

Have a brilliant weekend, hope the weather's good for you.....

what about a "find it" quiz :D

where people have to find specific items and actually hand them in.

I did this with my nephews once - first time i had seen them in years - I didnt know how to deal with a 10 year old and a 6 year old :lol:

so we did the...

find a blue flower

find a long leaf

it kept them going for hours, i wouldnt tell them what else to find until I had the last "find"

mmm, we used to do that with Cubs and it involved some sneaky ones e.g. 'find a picture of a ship' ... which involved getting a matchbox (Bryant & May I think) that has a picture of a sailing vessel on; find a feather, get three acorns ... we also put in some things that required them to go around the campsite and read notices, e.g. 'who is the secretary of the parish council' or somesuch.

I think it's really mean that someone would want to cheat at a quiz like that. I am very competitive at this sort of thing, but I wouldn't stoop so low as to use gadgets to get the answers!

The other thing you could have is one of those 'initial letter' quizzes, I expect you could find some on the internet somewhere? You know the sort of thing -

7 W of the W = Seven Wonders of the World and so on.
