Guest
Has anyone tried anything like this to succeed in having a lawn as well as chickens? http://www.boddingtons-ltd.com/acatalog/turfprotecta-turf-reinforcement.html Just wondered if it is worth a try - with this product or something similar? Egluntyne
I'd be concerned about the hens injuring their feet when scratching if I'm honest.
TAJ
I have a lawn and hens. I just use omlet netting and change the area they have when it is getting short, plus always give them a dirt area (chicken part of a flower bed) - they eat the grass and scratch in the soil area. When it is really wet they need more careful management, but it is possible to have a lawn and chickens. Tracy
Chook n Boo Mum
I had visions of watering the lawn with beer when I quickly looked at the link address.................... BTW, no we haven't. We use a plastic path during the winter, but that's only for walking on & has been put away again now. Sha x
C&T
Agree with TAJ - so far anyway! Limited and controlled free ranging has meant that our garden is OK. The grass is green and growing with all the "fertilizer", and had to be cut last weekend... Our garden is by no means big (small terraced house), but we do also only have 2 chickens which may make a difference!
