Having ordered our eglu coming on the 19 may, the mother in law to be has offered us all the office shredded paper, one of her colleagues said we wouldn't be able to use it as it was laser ink and had chemicals in, is this right and if so don't all newspaper/waste paper have chemicals in?

not sure sorry, but I've been using news paper for the past week, and the breeder of my girls used news paper too

I have used shredded paper in the past. It is ok to use but make sure it's not too long just in case they eat it.

 

I had to stop using it as one of my 4 girls would eat loads of it every day (the other 3 ignored it). So try it and see how you get on.

 

Personally, I use Auboise horse bedding which is hemp based material, soaks up poo nicely and composts well. I put it 1" deep in the run too.
