Fruit canes and ericaceous compost

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm moving my fruit canes to their final position over the weekend, but I can't for the life of me remember which ones have to be planted in ericaceous compost . I only know that the blueberries like ericaceous, but I've forgotten the rest.

I have:

Raspberries

Blackberries

and Blackcurrants.

Thanks for any help.

Blackberries and raspberries will be fine in any soil, but blackcurrants prefer a slightly acidic soil I think. My are in normal garden soil and are doing well though. :D

If you are planting them in the garden, just add a couple of handfuls of ericaceous soil and use water from a butt as it is more acidic than tap water.
