mammahen
We live on a modern housing estate surrounded by lots of houses. Our gingernut ranger and mrs pepperpot who we have had for just over a year now are fairly nosiy and we have recived a lot of complaints from neighbours reguarding noise. following the last lot of complaints over the bank holiday weekend I have decided to rehome our hens and they will be going to live on a farm of a friend of mine at the end of the month. We would like to get some more hens that are more suited to our situation both silkies and pekin bantams have been suggested as quiter residents for us would be really grateful for any honest thoughts on this matter. fuzzydoguk
So sorry to hear that you've had to re home your girls We have only had our girls for a few days so far but we have 2 silkie Bantams and from what we have heard so far (or rather not heard!) they are very quiet just making little cheeping and "burbling" noises. They actually sound like normal everyday garden birds though I have heard they can make a little more noise when laying (we have yet to experience this) I guess we're lucky our neighbours caught us the other day to say how lovely it was to hear our girls "giggling" away. Hope this helps a little, good luck! James
Egluntyne
Strange feeling of deja vu here. I'm sure I have just seen another thread on this in the Chickens section.
