smithy36
I have 2 13/14 week old chicks, who were hatched and reared together. I bought them 3 weeks ago . They seem to get on well no pecking or aything, but ever now and again they rear up at each other flap wings and fluff up their neck feathers... i thought that this was cockeral behaviour? Could they have learned this from the young boys that they were kept with previously? Edited May 6, 2009 by Guest
Falkor
I am no expert but whe I got my three orps at ten weeks approx they did this a bit....I think they were just sorting out who the boss is Gin is definetely the boss nowadays with OSH playing the part of her enforcer or as OH calls her "bull in a china shop" She looks so pretty but there is NOTHING dainty about her! Griffin
Mine are 10 weeks & 13 weeks, all in together and they all square up to each others, girls and boys alike The 2 Leghorn boys are the worst for it, I think it the 'small dog' syndrome, they think they're massive when they're not Poppy is a girl, she's much bigger than the others and she likes to use her size to intimidate some of the smaller ones, the Leghorns think they're twice her size
Phosphorus
Mine still do that occasionally and they are over a year old (Year and 22 weeks to be more exact ), I think it is just the pecking order reinforcement. All mine are most definately all girl
