bessandra
Hi My ducks currently eat their chick crumbs out of a small dog dish (you know, the ceramic ones), they satrted off with one of the hanging chicken feeder things but where the crumbs got wet where the girls went from feder to drinker to feeder, the feeder clogged up and no more feed would drop down. What do other people do please?

Lesley
Ducks need a shallow dish type of feeder so that they can scoop their feed - also, pellets not mash or they could clog their nostrils. We use a heavy ceramic dish, the sort that goes under a plant pot and a non-spill dog bowl - the sort that is wider at the bottom edge and can't be tipped over. All our pens have a big galvanised feeder with a spring underneath which the hens peck at. They are not supposed to be suitable for ducks so we use thairs as a store for their feed and scoop it out into their dishes - however, if they run out in their dishes, they are quite happy to peck at the spring and feed themselves! They worked it out themselves
